About Me

The inception of PDX Black Unicorn began while my husband and I were planning our wedding in 2017. I had a hard time finding a black hair stylist to do my hair. It was ridiculous! Most of the places I found were from word of mouth. I did find a few online but it was hard to decide who to let do my hair. I noticed that most of the places had no social media presence which is a big deal in todays world, how am I suppose to decide who has what I want. I've made it my mission to increase visibility of the black hair salons and minority businesses here in Portland. I started PDX Black Unicorn with just featuring black hair stylist and salons but it's grown into so much more.

My mission with PDX Black Unicorn is to show that there is a life here for minorities. There is a way to get your hair done, minorities have business', and there are activities for you to do, you just have to step a little outside of your comfort zone. Welcome to PDX Black Unicorn.
